Josh Pierson, Ph.D.

Josh Pierson is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Dr. Wright’s Lab. He joined in 2024 after graduating with his PhD from Iowa State University where he helped design a novel TIFT assay and utilized it to examine vesicle fusion pore expansion. In Dr. Wrights’s Lab, his research is centered around using Cryo-EM to investigate alpha-synuclein—the protein factor that is associated with the development of Parkinson’s, Multiple System Atrophy, and Lewy Body Dementia. He is excited to be a part of Dr. Wrights’s team and is eager to expand his expertise.
