Position title: Scientist I

Email: sunil5@wisc.edu

Smrithi Sunil is a scientist in Dr. Elizabeth Wright’s lab, where she is advancing correlative light and cryo-electron microscopy to study neurodegeneration. She earned her PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University in Dr. David Boas’ lab, where her research focused on the evolution of neurovascular coupling during stroke recovery using widefield imaging. Following her PhD, she worked as a research scientist at the Allen Institute for Neural Dynamics, where she developed a hyperspectral fiber photometry technique to study the role of neuromodulators during learning in a multiplexed manner. Beyond the lab, Smrithi enjoys writing about the history of science, for example, her essay on the history of GFP was published in Asimov Press.
