Matty Gaines, Ph.D.

Position title: Postdoctoral Research Associate

Matty Gaines is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Prof. Wright’s Lab. He joined the group in 2024 after completing his PhD and a short Post-Doc at Exeter University over in the UK, where he solved the structures of novel bacteriophages and several archaeal extremophilic filaments. As a seasoned helical, as well as traditional single particle Cryo-EM structural biologist, Matty is eager to solve many new structures and delve down untold biological avenues!
